Iskratel’s answer to new market requirements and trends to simplify and modernize the network with IP-based protocols is the SIP Server, which ensures significant new opportunities:
- for network operators, regardless of the type of network (fixed, mobile, cable, pure IP)
- for service providers, with new services such as Hosted PBX, Business Trunking, Mobile PBX, IP Centrex, Unified Communications, Residential broadband, Fixed Mobile Convergence
The SIP Server solution ensures the operator’s smooth transition to an all-IP-based IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) network, preserving all existing legacy services, interworking with other operators and the deployment of new revenue-driven services (e.g., video calls, Presence, Instant Messaging, Advertising, sending SMS, Self Provisioning, Call Monitoring, etc.).
New multimedia services are deployed on the SI3000 Application Server (an open service-delivery platform for the interconnection of internet and IP-TV applications).
The solution is specially designed to address:
- Residential users with a triple/double-play service package (voice, video, data). The telephony (voice service) is usually provided through a SIP client integrated into the HGW (Home Gateway) via a standard pair (FXS connector pots) for connecting legacy POTS and FAX phones or directly through the Ethernet interfaces (new SIP IP phones).
- Enterprise users (SOHO, medium, large) with a business-service package, which ensures efficient communications with employees (Unified communication, click to Conference, Video calls, Presence, IM, Collaboration etc.).
- Internet nomadic users or teleworkers, who need to reach services, all the time, independent of the location. They use notebooks with SIP Softphones or DMH (Dual Mode Handset) Smart phones with integrated SIP clients.
Benefits of the SIP Server solution
- Smooth integration with existing PSTN/PLMN or cable networks
- Secure voice services via an integrated Session Border Controller
- Ensures standard SIP and other standard VoIP (MEGACO, MGCP, H.323) and TDM (SS7, PRA, BA, V5.2) protocols
- Can be used in a mixed C5/C4 configuration and mixed networks (VoIP/TDM)
- IP interconnections with other VoIP carriers or IP PBX Enterprise business customers
- Solution is highly reliable (carrier grade), scalable and has a modular design
- Open for the rapid introduction of new multimedia and Web 2.0 services
- Cost-effective and investment-protecting service migration to an all-IP network (pay-as-you-grow principle, license extensions)
- Assured interoperability and the coexistence of different technologies
- Ensures all regulatory features (ETSI LI and SORM, Number Portability, Carrier Selection)
- Rich set of supplementary and advanced services for residential users
- Hosted and Mobile PBX services and IP Centrex for enterprise users
- Future-proof solution – clear migration strategy toward IMS
The SIP server solution is designed on an all-IP network architecture with separated application, call control and IP transport layers. The main components for the control function are products from Iskratel’s SI3000 Control Plane product family:
- SI3000 Call Server for call control and service provisioning
- SI3000 Application Server for enabling next-generation services
- SI3000 Signaling Media Gateway for mediation between the IP and existing TDM networks
- SI3000 Media Server for media resources and conference calls
- SI3000 Session Border Controller for security
- SI3000 Management Node System for administration, operating and maintenance of the whole network
The heart of the family is the SI3000 Call Server, which ensures all traditional legacy Class-4/5 and regulatory services for VoIP clients. It is compliant with the latest international standards and SIP recommendations.
The secure communications are efficiently ensured via an integrated or stand-alone SI3000 SBC, which protects the operator’s infrastructure and services. The SBC can be deployed in a mixed peering/access scenario to secure, control and manage a large number of SIP connections.
The solution architecture separates the call control from the service control. The next-generation multimedia services are deployed on the SI3000 AS (Application Server), the multi-service application platform for the rapid and easy deployment of new value-added services. It acts as a gateway for third-party internet servers, which provide the popular Web 2.0 internet services via standard open interfaces.
For SIP users Iskratel has in its portfolio partner products as well as its own:
- SI3000 MSAN Multi-Service Access Node for POTS (64 ports SIP POTS blade)
- Different broadband access SI3000 Home Gateways with integrated
- SIP client (Sinope for ADSL, Prospero for FTTH)
- HardPhones for business, advanced and residential users (IP-S400, IP-35P)
- SoftPhones from the partner company CounterPath
The SI3000 MNS (Management Node System) provides the central user-friendly operation, administration and maintenance of all the SI3000 network elements, including CPEs. The SI3000 MNS is open for integration with higher OSS/BSS systems.
All the solution components and building blocks are future proof and are already compatible with the IMS architecture.
