C2D services that run on the SI3000 OSAP are based on the Click to Dial (C2D) mechanism. C2D is a Web 2.0 solution for the integration of internet and telephony, which allows end-users to initiate a voice communication session by clicking on a web page on a desktop, a mobile device or an IPTV.
C2D services open up a wide range of innovative services for business users and residents and offer a new approach to voice communications in the internet era.
- In the business area, voice communications are simplified and e-commerce is empowered.
- In the residential area, voice communications can be added to emerging social networking.
C2D services can be deployed in a variety of usage modes:
- Personal Communication Portal (PCP) for a closed group of users,
- C2D from any application (CFA) as a tool to use any number on the screen to set up a call,
- C2D Widget as an element within any web page to empower e-commerce,
- C2D with dual-mode handset (mobile phone),
- C2D from IPTV to create interactive info pages,
- C2D API as an open interface to enable the operator or third-party user to create its own C2D service.
All the options named above are using the same infrastructure.
A typical solution consists of an application server (AS) for the C2D service application logic and a software module on the CS for setup, control and disconnection of the call.
The solution supports any telecommunications environment where a CS is deployed and can be implemented as either “Stand alone” or “Add-on” with an existing CS.
Benefits
- the calls are generated from a single point and thus use and charging can be easily controlled,
- all users within a company can use the company’s address book and add private numbers,
- simplifies the use of telephony services,
- costs reduction: calls are charged at a lower rate, with cheaper international calls,
- telephone-number hiding.
