Iskratel's SIP Converged Solution, aligned within Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) concepts, delivers a broad range of end-to-end applications and single-identity phone-number services over mobile, cable, DSL, FTTx and Wi-Fi networks. With the SIP Converged Solution, the operators can improve the cost, coverage, capacity and continuity of services across networks, while simultaneously growing service revenues and promoting customer loyalty and retention.
The SIP Converged Solution bridges broadband and mobile networks and provides mobile operators with a profitable, immediate entrance into SIP-based convergence, while fixed operators gain key-missing puzzles; mobility and complete messaging with short message (SMS) capabilities.
The flexible platform can be integrated into the existing network infrastructure to leverage additional Convergent services, and supporting smooth migration to IMS architecture.
The SIP Converged Solution encourage three capabilities of SIP-based communication convergence:
- A softphone and end user authentication by the mobile network using SIP to communicate with the mobile network.
- A capability to converge the IP with the mobile network, bridging between SIP signaling and SS7 signaling.
- The ability to associate two user devices (mobile handset and PC/Laptop) with a single phone number and set of services.
Iskratel's SIP Converged Solution allows the end users to use a range of SIP clients, in addition to existing mobile handset:
- Mobile Stick – USB device with a preloaded SoftPhone Client, allowing a number of applications based on an integrated smart SIM card, while using SIM-based authentication.
- Soft Client – Downloadable SoftPhone Client, using username/password-based authentication.
Iskratel’s SIP Converged Solution addresses also end users, who are always on the move, with:
- Dual Mode Handsets (DMH, a Smart phones with WiFi/WLAN capability and SoftPhone Client) – enabling Voice Call Continuity (VCC) functionality between 2G/3G and WLAN networks.
Well-known mobile services like voice, SMS, MMS and video are extended into the IP and onto the VoIP enabled device (PC/Laptop, DMH).
SIP Converged Solution puts mobile operators in an offensive posture relative to the Internet competitors that threaten to leverage mobile networks as a bit-pipe for their own services. In addition it offloads radio access network of mobile operators and improve coverage practically all-over the World, where IP is available.
SIP Converged Solution enables mobile operators to offer a competitively differentiated and strategically aligned SIP-based service.
Fixed operators or MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), with SIP Converged Solution, can have clear and powerful answer on acceleration of Fixed Mobile Substitution (FMS). The transition of SIP-based services of fixed operators to its users while mobile can expand fixed operator share of subscribers’ communications spending.
Iskratel’s SIP Converged Solution consists of several network entities like network convergence gateway, which mediates mobile network and VoIP, SIP-based network. It acts as an MSC/VLR/G-MSC in the GSM Network and as a SIP Registrar/Proxy in the VoIP network.
The Media Gateway Controller (MGC) and Signaling and Media Gateways (SMGs) of Iskratel SI3000 product set perform call-control functions as well as transcoding the media and translating the signaling protocols.
For security purposes it is recommended to integrate session border controller to deliver the critical control functions and enable high-quality interactive communications across the IP network borders.
Optionally, the operator can acquire a Business Feature Server and offer IP-CTX/IP-PBX services to its customers. In this way the enhanced feature set, known from enterprise environment, is combined with the mobility, offering attractive, business-related service for end users outside the corporate communications network.
Enabling connectivity of VoIP Providers with mobile operators in terms of short messaging (SMS) rounds up Iskratel SIP Converged Solution. VoIP Provider can suddenly become interconnected with the mobile world, enabling its end users to send and receive SMS messages to and from users of mobile operators.
The SIP Converged Solution can be implemented for mobile (GSM or CDMA) as well as for fixed operator or MVNO.
Iskratel cooperates with the world's leading companies in order to enable complete, door-to-door FMC solutions. The partners are as follows: CounterPath Corp., Oberthur Technologies, Dilithium, BroadSoft, Acme Packet, Covergence.
