Iskratel signs the Code of Conduct on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment

Sustainable transformation of companies plays a key role in addressing climate change. In Iskratel, we have anchored sustainable development to our strategy.

We believe that telecom equipment vendors are obliged to embrace transparent communication with customers and the general public about the carbon footprint that the equipment has throughout its life cycle. We are also aware that the majority of CO2 emissions during exploitation is a result of a specific mix of (fossil) fuels used to generate the electricity to supply the equipment. Therefore, the first piece of the puzzle is full public disclosure of electricity consumption of equipment, and the level of compliance with the Code of Conduct on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment. Issued by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, the Code of Conduct sets the maximum electricity consumption of broadband equipment.

In February, Iskratel signed the Code of Conduct, committing itself to ensuring that Iskratel's broadband-access equipment meets the strict limits on electricity consumption set by the Code of Conduct. Iskratel will transparently inform its customers and equipment users about the consumption and the level of compliance, believing that public disclosure of relevant data is key for operators and individuals to reduce their impact on the environment.
