On 13 May, a regular meeting of the Commission for Economic Modernization and Technological Development of Russia took place in Gorki, a suburb of Moscow. In addition to Igor Shchegolev, Minister of Communications and Mass Media, the directors of Rossvyaz, Rosinformtehnologii, Rospechat and Roskomnadzor attended the event. Andrej Polenec, General Manager of the Iskratel Group, was also invited to the meeting.
The meeting was devoted to the progress in the realization of projects in the area of telecommunications and information technologies. In his introductory speech, the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, emphasized the importance of promoting the sale of local products in the world market. During his participation, Igor Shchegolev, Minister of Communications and Mass Media, likewise pointed out the importance of the development and use of equipment from local production, and also identified criteria that apply to local production: "Naturally, local production is established in the territory of Russia; during the first year, local production should account for at least 30%, increasing to 40% in the second year, and 50% in the third year.
At the end of the meeting, the companies Iskratel and ZAO IskraUralTEL signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, thus underlining their intent to transfer advanced telecommunications technologies to the production at ZAO IskraUralTEL.
