Both Kabel Noord and KBG offer services from two independent service providers that are equally accessible to the users. The SI3000 Lumia access nodes deliver services that are offered by all four independent service providers on the Kabel Noord and KBG FTTH networks. The users alone decide which service offer is the most competitive. The ability to ensure open service access was the deciding factor when choosing the SI3000 Lumia as the most appropriate access node.
The FTTH access networks are equipped with Iskratel’s SI3000 Service-Selection Platform (SI3000 SSP), a web-based application for the optimized management of users and services. The SI3000 SSP provides lower operational costs to the providers and improves the end user’s satisfaction with an autonomous service selection.
“To make the service offer independent of the provider’s network has been a utopian idea for a long time. The SI3000 Lumia is bringing together ultra-broadband access, access-network intelligence and open-access ability. It opens up the networking segment for a range of new business models that will ensure access-infrastructure profitability for the next decade”, said Željko Puljić, Iskratel CTO.
The SI3000 Lumia gives wide support for advanced networking features. The node is empowered with the Iskratel Intelligent Service Architecture (ISA) and is therefore prepared for demanding service (IPTV, VoD, content sharing) delivery and responding to real-time service-traffic demands.
Iskratel is building the FTTH access network in the Netherlands in cooperation with the Dutch network-solution provider Hemmink. Its Project Manager, Alfred Kuiken, commented on the cooperation: “Iskratel access nodes are an optimal answer to the needs of today’s network operators. High capacity, an innovative networking approach and price are the winning characteristics of the SI3000 Lumia.”
