Iskratel announced its GPON 1U OLT (Optical Line Termination) aka “pizzabox” in February at the FTTH Council Europe in Munich, Germany. Today, Iskratel is announcing the immediate availability of the SI3000 Pono. The major benefit of this SI3000 Pono is the easy upgradability of the copper-based access node to a high-capacity fiber-access solution, as it can be mounted anywhere. Its very compact size and robust design make it a perfect fit for existing telecommunications locations, as the SI3000 Pono adds no battery and cooling requirements, and has a small energy footprint. With 8x fully standardized GPON OLT ports the SI3000 Pono supports up to 512 subscribers within a single 1U, with space still available in almost any telecommunications rack or outdoor cabinet, etc. In comparison to adding a new GPON line card in an existing MSAN, by adding the SI3000 Pono on top, existing services offered from the MSAN are not interrupted, since there is no need to change the central and uplink cards and there is no additional investment needed for these new parts. The non-blocking architecture allows the SI3000 Pono to be stacked via eight 1G or two 10G network ports, making it the best GPON solution for locations with up to 4,000 users. Coupled with a stand-alone CLI and WebGUI for smaller and full-blown integrations into Iskratel’s management solution for larger deployments, it is a great choice, from entering GPON to building complete coverage of certain geographical areas.
As expected from Iskratel, the whole ecosystem approach was considered, rounding off its solution with matching GPON ONT equipment, surpassing the box-seller attitude of many wish-to-be competitors. Iskratel’s CPE division – business unit Innbox – is announcing a new family of carrier-class high-end GPON optical network terminals for advanced triple-play services – the Innbox G2400 series. The G2400 series of home gateways complies with the ITU-T G.984 GPON standards and they are designed to meet the demands of service providers for high-speed connections, offering rates up to 2.5Gbps downstream and up to 1.25Gbps upstream. The devices excel with Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, analog telephony interfaces, a CATV connection, integrated Wi-Fi 802.11n and an option to connect the battery backup for lifeline services. An embedded, powerful, media processor enables full-featured triple-play services, including handling multiple HDTV video streams. The Innbox G2400 goes beyond with a full-featured router and firewall, and secure wireless operation.
