Challenging InterOp event paves the way to success for the Iskratel IMS and VoLTE solution

15.10.2012, Kranj, RCS VoLTE Interoperability Event 2012: Iskratel, a leading systems and solution provider, today announced its successful participation in the challenging RCS VoLTE Interoperability event, organized by the MultiService Forum (MSF), European Telecoms Standards Institute (ETSI) and GSM Association (GSMA). The focus of the InterOp event is the validation of core network interfaces to ensure multi-vendor deployment strategies for RCS and VoLTE technology. The RCS VoLTE interoperability event 2012 took place over the period of 1–12 October 2012 in two labs hosted by China Mobile in China Mobile Research Institute Laboratory in Beijing, China and by Telecom Slovenia Group in Sintesio, Kranj, Slovenia.
Iskratel is designing networks and turn-key solutions for end-user communication needs, i.e., high-performance entertainment content, rich communication networking and content sharing. Due to a multitude of communication options, the user demands a uniform network able to work with a single user identity for the ultimate user experience.

Focusing and being in line with the latest IMS standards, the Iskratel team successfully demonstrated a fully interoperable compact multimedia control platform, named Iskratel SI3000 IMS, by enabling voice applications (VoLTE) through integrated TAS and combined voice, data and multimedia content into the Rich Communication Suite (RCS).

The optimal and agile compact multimedia control platform – Iskratel SI3000 IMS – has been further evolved into the area where concepts and business models are still under consideration, but where it provides the must-have functionality that is vital for the end-users. At the event the Iskratel team demonstrated the Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SR-VCC) solution that enables the smooth handover of active Voice Call between LTE and the well-known legacy 2G/3G circuit-switched network, without disturbance to the end-user.

The turbulent telecommunications space requires a broad ecosystem to achieve a wider spectrum of IMS, VoLTE and RCS acceptance and the achievement of full potentials. Interoperability is crucial between different vendors, regardless of the fact that the announced scenarios are highly standardized. The intelligible concern of service providers about “locking in” with one vendor may simply disappear with a fully operating, multi-vendor ecosystem for future-oriented networks and multimedia services.

“Participating at such an event, with an encouraging outcome, is straightforward information to service providers globally that Iskratel and its SI3000 IMS product and VoLTE/RCS application portfolio are in line with the modern challenges faced by end-users as well as service providers in defining future network architecture concepts, always considering sustainable business cases,” said Mr. Janez Öri, Director of Product Management at Iskratel.
