Economic uncertainty in telecommunication sector increased the pressure on lowering investments and operational costs –hence utilization of legacy copper infrastructure is being prolonged with upgrade to vectorized VDSL.
After modernization phase, a significant share of users will stay connected to old, unsupported, legacy TDM exchanges, representing high operation cost. In order to maintain single IP-based network for 100% of narrow and broadband services, modern access nodes must support all legacy interfaces.
New SI3000 Lumia brings industry leading VDSL capacity (up to 1.216 ports per chassis) achieved with 64-port universal DSL blade. Blade supports ADSL2+, VDSL2 and is prepared for system-level vectoring. Operators benefit with initial low investment for connecting ADSL2+ and VDSL2 users. Later, when cross-talk will represent important performance degradation, platform can be upgraded to vectoring. Various POTS, DSL and fibre interfaces have been extended with legacy options, including two-party POTS lines and ISDN interface for telephony modernization.
Universal vectoring ready DSL blade and Two-party POTS blade together with vectoring ready platform are available immediately. ISDN blade will be available in Q3 while System-level vectoring card for 256 subscribers will be available by end of this year.
