This year's main theme at the FTTH Conference 2016 in Cape Town, organized by FTTH Council Africa, was »The Future of Smart«. The FTTH Council's aim is to support the development and deployment of fibre-based broadband access networks in Africa to enhance the quality of life for citizens in RSA and Africa as a whole. The market is offering opportunities to ICT solution providers that aspire to enrich the lives of local communities.
In September 2016 the Government of RSA officially announced its development plans of fibre-based broadband access networks, and will provide grants in the next years. The two major operators in the market - Telcom SA and Vodacom - were requested by the Government to develop and deploy approx. 1 Million of fibre-optical user ports (each) until mid-2018.
From the FTTH Conference 2016 in Cape Town investments into existing copper infrastructure are not foreseen in RSA, as the market is fully focused on fibre-based broadband access.
Iskratel, together with system integrator Pivotel, with whom Iskratel signed partnership contract in 2016, has successfully presented fibre-based broadband services at the FTTH Conference and made a strong impression as the ICT service provider in South Africa. »It is our privilege to be able to enrich the lives of local communities and make the lives of people somewhat better by providing our solutions to the world« says Mr Kristijan Melinc, Director of Partner sales at Iskratel. As a result of attendance at the FTTH Conference 2016 further conversations on Iskratel Fibre network solution are taking place with both major players, Telkom SA and Vodacom.
This achievement amongst others in addition proved again that Iskratel’s Partner program iniciative to expand to a global scale is a rewarding market approach. While remaining the leading European infocommunications vendor, Iskratel is strategically focused to expand globally through partnerships with local system integrators in the next two years.
