Bilbao, Spain, May 28, 2019 – Iskratel, the leading European provider of broadband access solutions, and Spanish broadband specialist Cabelec have teamed up to develop a new solution for ITM Global.
Cabelec will utilise Iskratel’s GPON Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), alongside its passive infrastructure, to deliver a GPON-based optical LAN solution. As an expert in the design, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of solutions for a range of industries, ITM Global will install the solution for one of its customers in the hospitality sector and plans to replicate the deployment for other customers in the hospitality sector in the future.
Designed to simplify the traditional multi-tier switching architecture, Iskratel’s GPON solution will be deployed to replace the active Ethernet switches with passive optical devices in the network of ITM Global’s customer, enabling the network to support ultrafast downstream and upstream speeds. Acting as an alternative to traditional active networks, the solution will enable cost-effective and efficient upgrades of the network to meet the demand for gigabit broadband, enabling the hotel to deliver bandwidth-consuming Ultra-High Definition (UHD) content, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and internet data services.
“As demand for increased bandwidth continues to rise, we needed to effectively and efficiently replace our customer’s active ethernet switches to increase network capacity,” said Luis Miguel González Martín, Technical Director at ITM Global. “Cabelec, in partnership with Iskratel, developed an alternative solution which simplified this process significantly, enabling us to achieve our goals and upgrade our customer’s networks to meet future service demands.”
After testing several GPON vendors, ITM Global selected Iskratel’s solution based on its management capabilities and user friendliness. Thanks to its design, the solution requires considerably less floor and rack space when compared to traditional active networks – enabling operators to save space and reduce Capital Expenditure (CapEx), while lowering power consumption and operational and maintenance costs.
The project comes after Cabelec became a new Certified Partner in Iskratel’s Partner Program scheme earlier this year. Under the partnership, a new range of solutions for the delivery of broadband, IPTV, telephony, video surveillance and cloud services will be brought to new segments of the market, combining Iskratel’s GPON and centralised management system with Cabelec's experience in building and deploying successful, high-quality networks.
“Since joining Iskratel’s Partner Program, our customer offering has significantly expanded, enabling us to reach new heights in the networking sector,” said Luis Miguel Rodríguez Barón, Technical Director at Cabelec. “By combining our proven experience in building and deploying high-performance networks, with Iskratel’s innovative products and solutions, we have provided ITM Global with an end-to-end solution which will enable their customers to upgrade their infrastructure to next-generation networks. This will ensure they can serve bandwidth demands today, and tomorrow.”
Already involving a number of companies from across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, the Iskratel Partner Program provides support across a range of areas to enable companies to grow in emerging markets and become broadband market leaders by reselling Iskratel broadband products and solutions.
“We are thrilled to be working with Cabelec and are already seeing significant benefits from the partnership,” said Kalaba Svjetlana, Director Sales, Broadband Solutions at Iskratel, at Iskratel. “This includes the development and future deployment of a GPON-Based optical LAN solution for Cabelec’s long-term customer, ITM Global, which has seen Iskratel enter new and exciting market segments that weren’t possible before.”
Iskratel will showcase its full range of GPON solutions at ANGA COM 2019
